Reporter visits Yantian Port: Recent cargo ship schedules to the United States remain stable
Shenzhen Yantian Port is the most densely populated port area for North American air routes in southern China, responsible for over a quarter of the country's exports to the United States. On August 12th, the reporter also visited Yantian Port.

On the afternoon of August 12th, at berth 13 of Yantian Port in Shenzhen, the "Mediterranean Romani" was busy with loading and unloading operations. The main goods transported by this cargo ship are Chinese made mechanical and electrical products, household appliances, daily necessities, etc. After loading and unloading nearly 10000 standard containers, it will sail towards the Port of New York in the United States. According to the staff of Yantian Port, including the "Mediterranean Romani", there were a total of 8 cargo ships departing from the port to the United States on that day. Since August this year, there have been about 60 cargo ships traveling between Yantian Port and the US China route, with an average of 6 ships per day. It is expected that this number will remain stable in the short term.
The reporter then visited a cross-border logistics enterprise not far from Yantian Port, where goods were piled up in the entire warehouse and workers were busy counting, loading and unloading.
The warehouse manager told reporters that China and the United States have reached a consensus on the continued suspension of the 24% tariff, and they will continue to expedite shipments in the next 90 days.
A-shares shipping and port sectors strengthen, with multiple stocks rising during trading hours
On the 12th, the A-share shipping port sector strengthened, with multiple related stocks such as Nanjing Port and Air China COSCO Shipping experiencing significant gains during trading.
From the perspective of the market, on August 12th, the A-share shipping and port sector experienced an upward trend during trading. As of the close, Nanjing Port rose by the daily limit, Air China COSCO Shipping rose by over 8%, and Ningbo Shipping and Lianyungang rose by over 6%. Ningbo COSCO Shipping, Phoenix Shipping, COSCO SHIPPING and other related concept stocks all closed higher.
Industry insiders say that despite the increasing uncertainty in the international trade situation since the beginning of this year, the throughput of foreign trade containers in major ports across the country has still achieved rapid growth. Overall, among the more than 60 major ports in China announced by the Ministry of Transport, over 40 ports achieved positive growth in container throughput from January to June 2025. In the first half of 2025, China achieved growth in imports and exports to over 190 countries and regions, with emerging markets contributing more incremental growth.
